| Sow indoors 3–4 weeks before last frost, or directly outdoors when soil is warm (min 15°C). Plant seeds on their edge, 2 cm deep. Space plants 60–90 cm apart. | Keep soil consistently moist, especially once fruits appear. Water at the base to avoid wetting leaves, which can cause powdery mildew. | Full sun. |

Harvest regularly when fruits are 10–20 cm long. Use a knife to cut the stem; do not twist the fruit off. |
Tips
-
Don’t let them get too big: Courgettes grow incredibly fast. Pick them when they are small and shiny for the best flavor and texture. If left too long, they become large ”marrows” with thick skin and watery flesh.
-
The more you pick, the more you get: Frequent harvesting stimulates the plant to produce more flowers and fruit.
-
Pollination help: If small fruits rot at the tip and fall off, they likely weren’t pollinated. You can hand-pollinate by transferring pollen from male flowers (thin stem) to female flowers (swollen base) using a brush or by hand.
