| Sow surface-level indoors Feb–April; do not cover seeds as they need light to germinate. Transplant outdoors 25–30 cm apart after frost. | Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Their shallow root systems dry out quickly, so regular watering is essential. | Full sun to partial shade. |

Harvest individual berries when they turn deep red and become intensely fragrant. Pick gently to avoid crushing. |
Tips
-
Patience is key: Germination can be slow and irregular. Placing seeds in the fridge (stratification) for 2–4 weeks before sowing can improve results.
-
Surface sowing: The seeds are tiny and require light to sprout. Simply press them into the moist potting mix rather than burying them.
-
Clumping habit: Unlike garden strawberries, most alpine varieties do not send out long runners, making them excellent for tidy borders, rock gardens, or pots.
